McKenzie Method

What is the McKenzie Method?

The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy is an internationally acclaimed method of assessment and treatment for spinal and extremity pain. Developed here in New Zealand by Physiotherapist Robin McKenzie it has been widely used all over the world for more than 30 years now. It is a philosophy of active patient involvement and education that is trusted and used by clinicians and patients all over the world for back, neck and extremity problems.

This approach continues to beo one of the most researched physical therapy based methods available. Practitioners are trained to assess and diagnose all areas of the musculoskeletal system. This is to say that if there is a problem around the spine, joint or muscle, or you need a good rehabilitation program, a visit to McKenzie trained Physiotherapist could be for you! A key feature is the initial assessment. It’s a safe, reliable way to reach an accurate diagnosis and only then make the approriate treatment plan. Expensive tests such as MRI’s are often unnecessary. Certified, skilled practitioners are able to rapidly determine whether the method will be effective for each patient.

Appointments at our Wellington Physiotherapy clinic are longer than some others in town but makes the most of every moment of your time.
